During a live interview at Bridgewater Plaza, approximately eight gunshots are heard as Parker is seen interviewing someone on-screen. The camera then drops to the ground and the broadcast cuts back to the anchor desk.

The video captured an image of the what’s believed to be the suspected shooter before it cuts away (see right.)

There is an active search for the gunman. Local TV stations in the area report the gunman is being chased by police right now on a highway.

Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe says the gunman may have been a disgruntled employee of WDBJ.

He has been identified by the augusta county sheriff’s office as Vester Lee Flanighan. The police say he is driving a 2009 ford mustang, and they have his license plate. McAuliffe said his arrest is imminent.

The sheriff’s department is supposed to have a news conference at noon Chicago time.
