Conviction reversed in Johnsburg teen Brian Carrick’s murder

An Illinois appeals court has overturned a man’s conviction for ordering the murder of a co-worker in suburban Johnsburg.

It took three trials to convict Mario Casciaro of murder by intimidation in the death of Brian Carrick, 13-years ago.

Another man, Shane Lamb, testified that he killed Carrick in a confrontation in a grocery store cooler.

But a lower court said was guilty because he sent lamb to confront Carrick over a drug debt.

The appeals court disagreed.

The prosecutor will appeal Thursday’s decision to the state Supreme Court.
