LA PORTE, Ind. — A deputy coroner in LaPorte County is accused of illegally selling a narcotic painkiller.
The LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office says 47-year-old Dawn Maxson was arrested Thursday for selling hydromorphone, a morphine derivative prescribed for pain.
She’s charged with dealing a schedule I, II or III controlled substance and likely will face additional charges.
Maxson is being held in the LaPorte County Jail on a $20,000 cash bond.
It wasn’t immediately known if she has an attorney.
