CHICAGO — The Chicago Police Department is out with its February violent crime numbers, and they are up sharply from last year.
In fact, the city has had its worst start in almost 20 years.
102 violent deaths have been reported so far this year, including 95 homicides.
There’s been at least one shooting or homicide every single day for the past year.
Most of the deaths are concentrated in South and West Side neighborhoods with gang and drug problems.
